The forum coincides with the onslaught of alarming events in Israel-Palestine: unprecedented destruction in Gaza with thousands of shocking civilian deaths and injuries, and hundreds of thousands displaced, and Israel's announcement of a massive expropriation of Palestinian land in the West Bank and more illegal settlements in Arab East Jerusalem. Israel's third and most brutal attack on Gaza since 2009 has prompted new waves of solidarity among peace activists with the oppression of the Palestinian people. What can we learn from each other about our experiences with oppression from dominant power, dispossession, propaganda, incarceration, and dehumanization? While oppressed communities' liberation struggles are distinct, they share many of the same dynamics, strategies, and point to similar hopes.

AIME and 14 co-sponsoring organizations (see below) invite the public to join us as we explore the connections among Jewish, Palestinian, African-American, and Latino struggles for liberation. Our nationally-known and respected speakers are: Rabbi Brant Rosen (Jewish Voice for Peace Rabbinical Council), Yousef Munayyer (Palestine Center of the Jerusalem Fund), Ajamu Dillahunt (Black Workers for Justice), and Gabrial Camacho (National Latino Organizer for the American Friends Service Committee).
